Pundits typically beg those within this industry to be more open when it comes to things that occur behind the scenes. BOS KTM, a new team in the FIM Motocross World Championship, have done exactly that though and taken to social media to explain the issues that they have encountered with Benoit Paturel.
The post, which is below, is written in poor English, but it is quite clear what is going on. It seems as though BOS are struggling to drag Benoit Paturel out to the same test sessions as Jordi Tixier, as the rider and his crew have decided that things are not working for him. Now, interestingly, they end by stating that they "will do everything we can to get out of this situation as soon as possible," so it is likely that the team will enter the season with just a single rider. The plot thickens further.
Current rumours suggest that Benoit Paturel is attempting to jump into the fill-in slot at Team HRC, as Brian Bogers will not be ready for the Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina. If Paturel does get out of his BOS KTM deal, which appears to be the case, then it is most likely that he ends up there. What happens when his services are no longer required in that fill-in role though? This really is a messy situation.
The post that the BOS KTM team shared can be found below. Seeing as they are a French team, you will have to push through the broken English.
"Sorry for the little information on our second pilot but, for now, tests are only performed with Jordi Tixier and some test riders," they wrote. "Indeed, we have still not convinced Benoit Paturel to train and test our machines in good conditions. After a few days of rolling Benoit and his entourage decided that the 450F (world champion) and the part-cycle did not suit him, without any discussion. This is a very big disappointment , as you can imagine, for all the members of the team, especially knowing the time chrono made by Jordi right now at RedSand MX Park.
"But the rule is simple in MXGP: No training and no testing equals zero results. It's too late now to go back. The investment granted by the team to take Benoit was therefore and we were wrong that helping a driver [with his] back to the wall would be a positive option for everyone. It's not…
"We will do everything we can to get out of this situation as soon as possible, to avoid disrupting the season of Jordi Tixier and the service to our customers," the team continued. "Our return to MX has made it possible to get to know our technology and the first pilots are satisfied, in the sand as on the earth. We have to keep going, we won't get anything!"
We will have more on this developing story as soon as news filters through. Both Benoit Paturel and BOS KTM has been contacted for further information.
