Onlookers were intrigued when Malcolm Stewart, who has now picked up the number twenty-seven, was not listed on the pre-entry list for the opening round of Monster Energy Supercross. The youngest Stewart brother has now taken to social media to confirm that he will not be racing, because of an unforeseen problem.
"I will not be racing Anaheim 1 unfortunately," Mookie wrote on social media. "We ran into a last minute issue that changed everything. I’ll give you guys a update on what is going on very soon, I appreciate you fans for sticking by me. Do not worry! You will see me out there." It has not been confirmed what the issue is exactly.
Stewart has been pictured aboard a privateer Kawasaki and was expected to race that this season, although no official announcement was made. A Suzuki was his machine of choice a year ago, when he was also forced to take the privateer route, but he failed to make it to the opening round that year too. After finally appearing at the third round, he raced every event that followed and ended up fifteenth in the final standings. A ninth in St. Louis was his highest finish.
