Ottobiano lands on calendar

MXGP of Lombardia is confirmed.

MXGP of Lombardia is confirmed.

The FIM Motocross World Championship calendar was finalised quite a while ago, but there was still one gap that had to be filled. A track had not been named to host the Grand Prix of Italy, which was pencilled in for June, as it was all up in the air. That is no longer a problem though, as Youthstream have confirmed that the Grand Prix of Lombardia will take place at Ottobiano on June 17th.

"Bringing MXGP to Ottobiano in 2017 was a big challenge and eventually it was a big success I must say," Stefano Avandero (the local organiser) stated. "Together with the staff that I’ve been working with for years, I'm working for a better outcome every year, and I'm so proud to have two Italian world champions coming to Ottobiano in 2018. Antonio Cairoli and Kiara Fontanesi, fourteen world titles together," he concluded.

"After the fantastic success in 2017, the FIM MXGP World Championship will come back to Ottobiano for the MXGP of Lombardia," said David Luongo (the Vice President of Youthstream). "Youthstream is very pleased with the collaboration with Mr. Avandero and Mr. Gualini, we share the same passion of motocross and we thank them for their investment in the sport. On the other hand, the fans will be able to enjoy the world-class facilities of the venue, a panoramic view on the track, be very close to the action and the Italian Tifosi will come to support their hero, Antonio Cairoli."

There are no more gaps to be filled on the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar now, as everything is in place and plans can be made. Which event will you be travelling to?
