For years, fans have longed for the Maxxis British Championship to incorporate youth classes and run across a full weekend. RHL Activities have made huge strides forward in recent weeks and have achieved that goal, with support from the ACU, so will run the first British Motocross Championship festival in April next year.
The event will incorporate the second round of the Maxxis British Championship, which will be held at Culham, and then the Judd British Youth Nationals will kick off on the same weekend. The event will run from March 30th to April 1st. "For me this is something I have wanted to do with RHL for a number of years since we ran the Handlebar Festival in 2009, which saw the likes of Jeffrey Herlings competing," Gareth Hockey said in a press release. "With the support of the ACU, we are looking forward to the very first British Motocross Championship festival.
"The team and myself are already busy working away on plans for the event, whilst beginning conversations with manufacturers and the industry," he continued. "I can definitely say it will be an event no-one will want to miss. With RHL Activities' expertise in organising events and the support from those competing in the championships, we can hopefully turn this one-of-a-kind weekend into an annual occasion."
