Report: Red Bull Straight Rhythm

A Straight Rhythm recap.

A Straight Rhythm recap.

Marvin Musquin took another emphatic victory at Red Bull Straight Rhythm last night, after defeating Josh Hansen in the finale. "There is no other race like this," Musquin said in a press release. "Racing side-by-side in a straight line has worked out well for me and I want to keep the momentum going." Broc Tickle took third overall in theĀ Open division, despite the fact that this was his first time at the event, with Kyle Chisholm in fourth.

The Lites class was a sea of orange, unsurprisingly, as Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM travelled to the Fairplex in Pomona with their full team. It was Shane McElrath who reigned victorious, after edging out Sean Cantrell in the final. Alex Martin was third and the highest-placed competitor on a two-stroke, Ryan Sipes, ended fourth. Where Jordon Smith, a pre-race favourite aboard his Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM? He injured his ankle in practice, but it seems that nothing is broken.

Finally, in the category that everyone paid attention to, there was an upset! Gared SteinkeĀ defeated Ronnie Mac in the two-stroke final and the latter actually had a rather hard crash, but was able to get up and soldier on. Where was Ryan Villopoto? Not even on the podium! Ryan Sipes, who was quick in qualifying, managed to get the better of RV in the battle for third. Chad Reed obviously did not compete after sustaining an ankle injury in practice.
