A turbulent time continues for Aleksandr Tonkov, a former podium finisher in the FIM Motocross World Championship, as he is once again without a ride or option to race at the highest level. Tonkov was racing for the MEGA Bulk Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki team in Australia, but has parted ways with the team following some mediocre results.
For those who are not aware, Tonkov has been denied access to Europe due to issues with his visa. The Russian native was actively seeking other options, however, hence why he landed in Australia with his sights set on the MX1 title. A lack of preparation was to blame for his subpar results to begin with, but at the most recent round he recorded a 8-9 scorecard.
MEGA Bulk Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki have not yet confirmed who will replace Tonkov, but riders like Brett Metcalfe and Jay Wilson are currently available. Tonkov, on the other hand, is quickly running out of options.
