Jordi Tixier underwent surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his right leg following the Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina and, although the injury should not keep him on the sidelines for too long, he is expected to return at the Grand Prix of Latvia on the first weekend of May. This left the Monster Energy KRT team in a bit of a predicament, as his machine would be idle for the next two rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
Maxime Desprey has become a solution to that problem, however, as he'll pilot the factory machinery at the Grand Prix of Trentino this weekend and then the Grand Prix of Europe. "First of all I’d like to thank Kawasaki and Monster Energy KRT to give me this great opportunity, but also Bud Racing and team Gebben Racing who understood that it was a great chance for me to show what I can do," Maxime Desprey commented in a KRT statement. "Of course I’m very happy with this opportunity, I have already tested the bike and I can’t wait to be in Arco di Trento this weekend."
Desprey was supposed to be racing for Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki at the European rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship and, seeing as he won't be aboard that machine at rounds five and six, Steven Lenoir will step up to race for them in Valkenswaard.
