What happened to Alvin Ostlund at the Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina? That question was asked frequently, as the Kemea Yamaha rider did not appear in any of the results following free practice. Ostlund, who has cracked the top ten just once this season, hit a machine that had been abandoned by a competitor in the first practice session and crashed in a spectacular fashion.
Ostlund sustained a concussion in that fall, according to a report from Yamaha Racing, and also had some pain in his shoulder. Those issues obviously ruled him out of the event, hence the lack of points, but it seems that there were no broken bones nor was there any ligament damage in his shoulder.
‘161' was reportedly cleared by the medical team soon after the event, so was expected to return to racing at the Grand Prix of Leon. It has now been confirmed, however, that he will be out of action until the MXGP of Trentino. "I will miss the race in Mexico this weekend," Ostlund wrote on social media. "We'll try to come back to Italy in three weeks."
