The pre-season blues are almost over! The imminent arrival of the championship openers mean that a full summer of amateur and youth racing is within touching distance. For some this will have meant a dedicated amount of winter preparation, bearing the harsh and bitter weather of the UK in hope of chasing a championship title in the coming months. However, for most, the fair-weather riders, the weekend warriors… Hibernation is almost over! It is time to blow the cobwebs off of your old two-smokers/four-bangers and start getting pumped for another season of unrelenting carnage!
For those of you that do not yet know me, I am Marc Carter and I will be your designated East Kent Schoolboy Scramble Club (EKSSC) race reporter for the forthcoming season. With the introductions now out of the way, let’s talk racing!
EKSSC shall be reigniting the embers this year Sunday 5th March 2017 at West Meon, a track renowned for its alternating gradients, variant line choices and raw pace. But, if the likes of West Meon doesn’t tickle your fancy, EKSSC will also be returning to venues such as Chippenham and Iden, along with more familiar tracks such as Lamberhurst and Staplehurst later in the season.
The calendar this year ultimately boasts a range of diverse layouts, suited to any rider of any ability; in a community committed to its members, with intrinsic family values that permit EKSSC to rightfully herald itself as a welcoming and gratifying club, for all of its members, non-members and spectators to be engaged with.
