Rossi Beard is a 14-years-old and lives in Tarleton, which near Preston Docks! He has had an impressive year and we caught up with him to get his thoughts….
MX Vice: So Rossi you've had a pretty good year on paper! How has this year gone for you?
Rossi Beard: Couldn't have gone much better really! I won the British Youth BW85 championship and finished 2nd in the MX Nationals after I missed Pontrillias. Also after the last round of the BYN I was asked to compete in the Coupe de L'avenir and I managed to win a race against some of the best people in Europe. England then came 2nd overall to Belgium. I haven't had any major injuries so was able to practice all through the year.
How do you find the bike that you’re on?
I am riding for Planet Advanced Racing this year and the Husqvarna 125 feels mega. I have been out on the Husqvarna at a few different tracks and the suspension feels great.
What series’ are you doing in 2017?
In 2017 I am hoping to compete in the Maxxis, British Youth Nationals and the MX Nationals.
Have you set your goals for next year?
It is a big year and will be very busy but I am aiming for the top 5 and hopefully get a few wins if I am feeling confident nearer the time.
Do you feel like you’ve made a lot of progression this year?
It's been a very good year and has boosted my confidence up a lot. I now know what I can do and hopefully will be able to show it next year like I have done this year.
Do you ride much during the week?
I ride most weekends at a variety of tracks and now and then go to either Fatcats or Preston Docks on Wednesdays. I also train off the bike, to get my fitness levels up.
What’s been the best track for you this year and why?
The best track I have ridden this year is Dunns. I felt very confident there and managed to take all 4 wins at the MX Nationals.
Is there anyone you would like to thank for the help throughout the last 12 months?
I would like to thank my Mum and Dad a lot for all they do. Scott and Davy at Planet Advanced Racing for supporting me at each race and keeping the bike the best it can handle. Also thanks to M-tech tuning for the best bike I could have and always being there to tweak it at the race meetings, Dave Clark Racing for all Michelin tyres, oil and good advice and also a thanks to Danny Tollet at NMA for all the training I have done and kept me in winning form!
