Lucas Coenen wins the MXGP of Sardinia, first podium for Kay de Wolf

Lucas Coenen also won the second moto in Riola Sardo, with the Belgian once again finishing ahead of Jeffrey Herlings. This time, Kay de Wolf secured third place, earning his first overall podium. Romain Febvre finished fourth ahead of Ruben Fernandez.

Lucas Coenen quickly took control of the race and looked set for a comfortable victory until he crashed in the closing stages. His twelve-second lead disappeared, allowing Herlings to close right up to the Belgian by the finish, but the Dutchman ultimately came up just short. Kay de Wolf delivered an impressive performance; after completing the first lap outside the top twenty, he fought his way back to third place. The podium for the MXGP of Sardinia consisted of Lucas Coenen, Jeffrey Herlings, and Kay de Wolf.
