The CAD2M Dutch Masters of Motocross got off to a successful start in Heerde. The circuit was packed with thousands of enthusiastic motorsport fans who were treated to motocross of the highest level.

Jeffrey Herlings won both motos in the 500 class, but it certainly didn’t come easy. In the first moto, Kay de Wolf put him under heavy pressure, while in the second moto, reigning world champion Romain Febvre managed to follow Herlings for the entire race. Nevertheless, Herlings held his ground and took the win ahead of Febvre (3-2) and de Wolf (2-4).

The 250 class was won by Karlis Reisulis with a 1-3 result in the motos. Dutch rider Kay Karssemakers delivered an outstanding performance and finished second overall with a 3-2. Reigning champion Cas Valk secured the third step of the podium with a 2-4.

In the 125cc class, it remained exciting until the checkered flag of the second moto. Damian Wedage won the first moto but had a mediocre start in the second. He charged through the field and, in the closing stages, reached the rear wheel of race leader Timo Heuver. This battle was for the overall victory, but it was ultimately Heuver who held on with a 2-1 result to claim the overall win ahead of Wedage (1-2) and Seth Priem (3-5).

In the 85 class, the pace was incredibly high. At the end of the day, three riders were tied on points for the overall win. Luca Nierychlo won the first round in Heerde with a 6-1 result, ahead of Gregor Lootus (4-2) and Kash van Hamond (3-3).
We look back on a successful opening round of the championship. Fortunately, it won’t be long before the gate drops again, as the second round will take place on Sunday, May 3rd in Harfsen.
