Lotte van Drunen continues to build at the Swiss Grand Prix

The De Baets AIT Racing Team experienced a challenging weekend during the MXGP of Switzerland in Frauenfeld, where the severe weather conditions on Sunday played a major role. After a dry Saturday, persistent rain overnight and in the morning turned the track into an extremely demanding and technical circuit.

Lotte van Drunen competed in the MX2 class and showed strong determination. The goal was to gain as much experience as possible on this type of track so she can benefit from it later in the season during the Women’s World Championship. In the muddy first moto, she came close to scoring points and finished 22nd. In the second moto, she rode a controlled race and finished 24th. For Van Drunen, the event was a success, and she gained valuable experience.

In the EMX250 class, Cole McCullough made a positive start with the 15th fastest time in his practice group. However, the first moto on Saturday did not go his way, as he retired in the opening lap. In the second moto on Sunday, he came close to the points and finished 21st. Unfortunately, Vencislav Toshev, despite determined efforts to set a fast lap time, did not make it through qualification.

Torre van Mechgelen narrowly missed qualification in the EMX125 class but secured second reserve with the 21st fastest time. He was allowed to start in the second moto on Sunday, but under the tough conditions, he had to settle for 37th place.

The team will prepare this week to line up on Easter Monday at the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Heerde.
