Lucas and Sacha Coenen both won their motos in the opening round of the Italian Championship in Alghero.
In the second moto, Lucas charged forward from around fifth place and after a few laps took over the lead from Andrea Adamo and Tim Gajser. Coenen kept the pace high and eventually won by a margin of more than 20 seconds over Gajser. Adamo retired midway through the race, which allowed Alberto Forato to take third place ahead of Oriol Oliver. With this result, Oliver finished third overall on the day behind Coenen and Gajser.
Mattia Guadagnini finished fifth ahead of Brent van Doninck, who charged back through the field from outside the top ten. Jago Geerts crashed with Andrea Bonacorsi in the first corner after the start but managed to recover from last place all the way up to tenth.
In the second moto of the 250 class, Sacha Coenen led from start to finish and dominated the race. Simon Laengenfelder finished second ahead of the strongly riding Cas Valk. Janis Reisulis and Scott Smulders completed the top five.
After his victory in the first moto, Moritz Ernecker also claimed the win in the second moto of the 125cc class. Bertram Thorius finished second ahead of Emil Ziemer.
