Ricky Brabec Takes Overall Lead in Dakar Rally

American rider Ricky Brabec has taken over the lead in the overall standings of the Dakar Rally following the tenth stage of the event. Brabec finished the stage in second place, just behind his teammate Adrien Van Beveren, and successfully erased his deficit to Daniel Sanders and Luciano Benavides.

Sanders lost significant time after suffering a heavy crash, while Brabec’s strong performance allowed him to move to the top of the general classification. Despite this change at the front, the battle for victory remains extremely close, as Luciano Benavides now trails Brabec by just 56 seconds.

In today’s stage, Benavides secured third place, ahead of Skyler Howes and Nacho Cornejo. Following his crash, Sanders was only able to finish in sixteenth position. Sanders announced after the finish that he broke his collarbone and breastbone in the crash. Watch more about his crash in the video below!

Belgian rider Jerome Martiny crossed the line in twenty-eighth place, while Ian Olthof finished fiftieth.
