Dean Wilson – set to defend UK Arenacross Title

Great news for the British Arenacross Championship as newly crowned Australian AUS-X Supercross Champion, former AMA Motocross champion, Dean Wilson will return to the UK this winter to defend his Arenacross title.

Racing again under the Armor Vision St Blazey Honda team, the ever-popular Scottish born racer is no stranger to the tight and sometimes physical nature of Arenacross.

Wilson explained: “2025 was a learning year for me with Arenacross, and being home racing for the first time in decades was really something special – so taking the British Championship title was great for me, Steve (Anear), Mark (Chamberlain) and the St Blazey Honda team. I’m excited to return home and looking forward to seeing all the British fans at round one in Birmingham on Jan 31st”

Wilson was a standout force throughout the entire 2025 Arenacross series, delivering the kind of composed yet aggressive riding that keeps crowds on their feet. Across every round, he handled the tight indoor tracks with confidence, battled hard in the close-contact races that define Arenacross, and consistently found himself at the front when it mattered. His performances not only secured him the championship but also cemented his status as one of the most exciting and reliable riders in the field.

Joining Wilson for the 2026 campaign is Northern Irish rider Martin Barr, an Arenacross veteran whose performances in the 2025 series reminded everyone exactly why he’s so highly regarded. His presence brings extra strength to the line-up — and there’s no doubt Belfast fans will be thrilled to see him back.

Speaking about Wilson’s return and the team set-up for the season ahead, Steve Annear, Owner of St Blazey Motorcycles, commented: “We are just delighted to be able to bring Dean back over to defend his British AX title. For a small MX shop based in deepest Cornwall to have a global superstar like Dean choosing us over other bigger teams speaks volumes for the vibe we had last year. To be able to add Martin Barr to the team for this year is really exciting and we can’t wait for the series to start.”

As long-standing supporters of the Arenacross series, Armor Vision’s involvement with the team hosting the reigning champion marks a significant moment for the brand.

“We’re really pleased to have Deano come over again for AX,” said Mark Chamberlain, Co-Founder of Armor Vision. “Armor Vision has supported the series since we first started the company, so to continue that journey and have Deano representing both the team and the brand is great news.”

“It was always my ambition to see Deano back home racing in from of a British audience, so last year was so special as he proved just how popular he was with the AX race fans” explained Arenacross promoter, Matt Bates. “And since he won our championship back in March, his popularity seems to have taken yet another meteoric rise by winning both Brazilian and Australian Supercross titles, as well as his incredibly popular fill-in ride for Jet Lawrence in the US AMA Supercross Championship, proving despite being semi-retired, he’s still one of the fastest and most popular riders in the world.”

Fans can see Dean Wilson back in Arenacross action when the 2026 British Arenacross Championship opens in Birmingham on 31 January at the bp pulse LIVE Arena, before heading to Belfast on 13 & 14 February at the SSE Arena.
