Roan Tolsma takes the next step in his career

His recent move to CAT Moto feels like a logical next step in his development. Over the past years, his riding has steadily improved, and with that, his ambition has grown as well. Competing in a full EMX250 season has always been his goal, but within his own team that simply wasn’t achievable. So when CAT Moto offered him the opportunity, he didn’t have to think twice. “We’re incredibly grateful that they are making this possible,” he says sincerely.

Last season, Roan stayed loyal to his own team, with valuable support from Pol Motors. That collaboration went very well, and he looks back on it with a good feeling. Still, it became clear that to take the next step, he needed a team with strong structure. The choice for CAT Moto comes directly from that ambition to continue growing.

The past season had several highlights, with his World Championship debut standing out above all. “As a young rider, that’s something you always dream of,” he says. “And when it actually happens, it’s something truly special.” The fact that he performed strongly during that debut made the experience even better.

Yet he doesn’t look back on the season fully satisfied. The start was difficult due to struggles with finding the right setup for the bike and suspension. Only later did he and his team find the ideal settings, after which the results steadily improved. But in the Dutch Championship, he feels he left too many points on the table in the early stages.

Throughout the season, he could rely on the guidance of Erik Eggens and Marjorie Borger. Marjorie handled the physical training, while Erik focused on the riding itself. He made significant progress, especially in posture and mental resilience. “I learned an incredible amount from Erik, both mentally and in terms of speed. I’m very grateful to both of them for everything.”

With his new team and the experience he has gained, he looks ahead with ambition. The goals for next season are clear: perform as well as possible in the Dutch Masters and deliver strong results in both the EMX250 Championship and the ADAC races. He has great confidence that, with the right people around him, he’s ready to take the next steps.
