Jett Lawrence claimed victory in the opening race of the Motocross of Nations in the United States. For Team Netherlands, only Kay de Wolf lined up and finished a strong eighth overall, making him the best MX2 rider of the moto.
The race began with drama for Team Germany as both Ken Roczen and Simon Längenfelder crashed in the first corner. Längenfelder was unable to continue, while Roczen recovered only to 19th position. At the front, Jett Lawrence dominated from start to finish, taking a commanding win ahead of Lucas Coenen in second and Tim Gajser in third. Eli Tomac and Romain Febvre completed the top five.
For Team Belgium, the race ended in disappointment when Sacha Coenen was forced to retire after contact with Justin Cooper.
