Present on site and announcing the great news as well as launching the MXGP and MX2 Sunday’s programme were Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo, FIM President Jorge Viegas and FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela as well as the Northen Territory Officials, The Honourable Gerard Maley, Acting Chief Minister of the Northern Territory and Suzanna Bishop, CEO of NT Department of Tourism and Hospitality.

David Luongo, Infront Moto Racing CEO:
“Honestly, it is a fantastic pleasure for us to be back in Australia after 24 years of waiting. The fans have been incredible all weekend, coming from all across the country and even from Europe to support their riders. To arrive at the final round with three titles still on the line is something truly special, and we already crowned Lotte Van Drunen earlier today in WMX. What can I say about Darwin? This is one of the most beautiful locations we have ever seen, and one of the best organizations we have worked with in years. From the very first meeting, we knew the motivation here was high, and the result is a world-class event with a unique facility, combining a professional paddock and a fantastic track. We felt truly welcome, and Australia remains one of the biggest off-road markets in the world with passionate fans and great riders. That is why I am proud to confirm we will be back in Darwin again next year on the 18th–20th of September for the season finale. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.”

Jorge Viegas, FIM President:
“Australia has shown once again its strength in motocross with excellent facilities, outstanding organization, and the warmth of the people. This event proves that motocross has a natural home here, and I sincerely hope it will become a tradition and a classic round of the World Championship. I also want to underline the support of the local government, which demonstrates how sport and tourism can work hand in hand, not only to welcome fans from around the world but also to inspire the youth and provide them with world-class events. Thank you to the Northern Territory for this incredible welcome.”

The Honourable Gerard Maley, Acting Chief Minister of the Northern Territory:
“Thank you for bringing MXGP here. I’ve lived in Darwin for a long time, and to see such a major event showcase what we have to offer is something very special. Our facilities are fantastic, the atmosphere has been incredible, and the action on track has already been spectacular. This event is not only great entertainment but also a huge boost for local businesses and tourism, showing visitors the unique lifestyle we enjoy here in the Territory. Darwin is a very special place, from the harbour to the open spaces, and of course the warm weather – and having motocross at this level here is just amazing. The riders are world-class, so fast and smooth, and it has been a real privilege to watch them perform in front of our home crowd.”

Suzana Bishop, CEO of NT Department of Tourism and Hospitality:
“The return of MXGP to Australia has been nothing short of incredible. To see this huge crowd for the first edition in Darwin after 24 years shows just how much the fans have embraced the event, the riders, and this world-class venue. Together with Infront Moto Racing and Motorcycling Australia, we are proud to deliver an unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back in 2026.”

With the success of the Australian Grand Prix, there is no doubt that the enthusiasm of the Aussie fans will make this GP an unmissable event for years to come!
