Kiara Fontanesi Claims Victory in Opening WMX Race in Australia, Lotte van Drunen Finishes Third

Kiara Fontanesi took the win in the opening moto of the WMX in Australia. The Italian rider grabbed the holeshot and quickly built a sizeable gap over her rivals.

Behind Fontanesi, Spain’s Daniella Guillén secured second place, while Dutch talent Lotte van Drunen crossed the line in third. Amandine Verstappen finished fourth, ahead of Larissa Papenmeier and top Australian rider Taylah McCutcheon.

In the battle for the World Championship title, Lotte van Drunen will head into tomorrow’s race with an 11-point lead over Kiara Fontanesi and 15 points over third-placed Daniella Guillén.
