Jeffrey Herlings secured victory in the opening moto in Arnhem. After Glenn Coldenhoff grabbed the holeshot, Herlings took over the lead halfway through the first lap and never looked back. Behind him, Coldenhoff held on to second place for much of the race but was overtaken in the final two laps by Lucas Coenen and Romain Febvre. Coenen had crashed in the opening corner yet impressively fought his way back through the field to finish just behind race winner Herlings.
Brian Bogers crossed the line in eighth place, while Calvin Vlaanderen recovered from a difficult opening lap to finish 12th, one spot ahead of Roan van de Moosdijk in 13th.
