Janis Reisulis Extends EMX250 Championship Lead with Victory in the Netherlands

VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 team’s Janis Reisulis has won the penultimate round of the 2025 EMX250 Championship in Arnhem, the Netherlands. After placing third overall in Sweden last weekend, Reisulis headed to the sand circuit fully focused on returning to his winning ways.

In Race One, the series leader claimed the holeshot and led the way until the closing stages. With three laps remaining, he was pushed back to second by Francisco Garcia, but in terms of his championship battle, he beat his nearest rival to slightly extend his margin at the top of the standings.

Reisulis made it a pair of holeshots in Race Two and led the way until a small mistake allowed Yamaha-mounted Jekabs Kubulins into the lead. Reisulis regained control five laps later and then rode a faultless race to pick up his 10th race win of the season, and fifth overall victory. Leaving the Netherlands with one round remaining, Reisulis now holds a 38-point lead at the top of the EMX250 Championship standings.

Reisulis’ teammate, Ivano van Erp, was absent from racing in the Netherlands and will also miss the final round due to injury.

De Baets Yamaha Supported MX Team’s Lotte van Drunen was also in action in the Netherlands for round four of the 2025 FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship. The Dutch sensation, racing at home in Arnhem, the Netherlands, won the opening race before crossing the line a close second in Race Two. In doing so, van Drunen extends her series lead to 20 points with two rounds remaining.

Arriving in Arnhem with her GYTR-kitted Yamaha YZ250F adorned with the series leader’s red plates, van Drunen was determined to strengthen her championship advantage at the fourth round of the WMX Championship. After posting the second-fastest time in qualifying, she headed to the line for Race One focused on securing victory.

As the start gate dropped for the opening race, van Drunen was quick to react and took the holeshot. With a clear track ahead of her, the 18-year-old began to break away at the front of the field and delivered a faultless display of sand riding to win by almost 20 seconds.

Starting outside the top five gave van Drunen a lot of work to do in Race Two. By lap three, she’d worked her way into second and set about reeling in race leader Daniela Guillen, who was around five seconds ahead. Spurred on by her home crowd, van Drunen caught her rival on multiple occasions but couldn’t find a way through to take over the lead.

As the race ended, the two riders were almost side by side, with van Drunen missing out on the win by just over a tenth of a second. Thanks to her 1-2 race results, the reigning WMX Champion has extended her series lead from six to 20 points ahead of the penultimate round in Turkey in two weeks’ time.

The WMX Championship continues in Turkey over the weekend of September 6-7 with the event also marking the final round of the EMX250 campaign.
