Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team’s Maxime Renaux has finished eighth overall at the 17th round of the 2025 MXGP World Championship. Competing at the sand track of Arnhem in the Netherlands, Renaux was joined inside the top 10 by teammate Jago Geerts, who finished 10th, with Calvin Vlaanderen placing 12th.
Renaux headed to Arnhem one week on from his confidence-boosting fourth overall in Sweden. However, a fall in the Qualifying Race in the Netherlands led to a less-than-favourable gate pick for both Grand Prix races. The Frenchman fought hard for seventh in the opening race before crossing the line 11th in Race Two. With three rounds remaining, Renaux sits eighth in the championship standings.
After missing the previous round due to injury, Geerts returned to racing in the Netherlands. A crash in Race One restricted him to 17th, but following a strong start in Race Two, the Belgian delivered an impressive ride to finish seventh. Geerts remains 14th in the series after round 17.
With three overall podium results in the last four Grands Prix, Vlaanderen was understandably excited for Arnhem. Frustratingly, a heavy fall in Free Practice knocked his confidence, and combined with not finding his flow around the technical race track, he was unable to perform at his best. On the day, Vlaanderen posted 12-13 results for 12th overall and remains fifth in the MXGP World Championship standings.
The team will now enjoy a weekend off before preparing for the final three rounds of the season, beginning with the MXGP of Turkey on September 6-7.

“That was a hard day in the sand. I knew coming in that it would be tough, and it was. The results aren’t where I want to be, but to finish the season we have three hardpack tracks, so I’m looking to forward to those before the Nations in the USA.”
Jago Geerts
10th MXGP of the Netherlands, 18-points
14th MXGP Championship Standings, 260-points
“This weekend has been a little disappointing. I crashed in Race One and I was stuck under the bike for a little while, and I also hurt my knee. Before the second race, the physio worked on my knee and it felt good enough to line up. I had a decent start and a solid race for seventh, so that was a good end to the weekend.”
Calvin Vlaanderen
12th MXGP of the Netherlands, 17-points
5th MXGP Championship Standings, 497-points
“It’s been a tough day. I struggled to find my rhythm all weekend and I had a big crash in Free Practice, so that knocked my confidence a little too. From the gate I had for the races, I had bad starts, and I found the track tough to pass on. I’m in one piece though, and now I’ll reset before the final three rounds.”
