The team headed south to a very sunny Cornwall for round five of the Motul ACU British Championship at Landrake.
For the first time this season we had all three riders under the awning.
MX2 were second to hit the track after the 125’s, with Gyan qualifying fourth in timed practice, Oriol in eighth and Max ninth.
In race one, Gyan especially had a great jump out over the gate, but all three riders were pushed back as the field funnelled through the first few chicane corners. All three riders emerged around the top 10. After some good battles throughout the race, Oriol finished in seventh with Gyan and Max not far behind in twelfth and thirteenth respectively.
Race two Oriol shot out of the start and put himself into a great position just behind hole shot man and red plate holder Tommy Searle. Max and Gyan had a similar start to race one and despite struggling with the track, both riders put in consistent lap times. Meanwhile, Oriol applied the pressure throughout the race for lead, briefly taking it over but coming just short, finishing in second place at the flag. Max finished eighth and Gyan tenth.
Gyan: “Very difficult day in Landrake, didn’t feel like myself all day and struggled with some things. No excuses, need to get better again and be ready for the last few races of the season! Thanks to everyone!”
Max: “New track, I liked the track. The layout was quite nice. It was just really difficult to put in a fast lap with all the riders, but it was the same for everyone. It was quite decent in practice with P9. Then, in the first race and second race, I messed up the start. I really need to get back to my old technique and work on it to get back to the Max Werner style. Hopefully, I can fix that problem soon so we can be up at the front of the pack. Just keep working on trying to get better and get back to my old shape. See you in Sweden!”
Oriol: “P3 overall on the day. Quite happy after not a good first moto. I had a bad start and the track was really difficult to pass on, so ended P7. Had P2 in the second moto after battling the whole moto with Tommy Searle, tried to make a pass but was not possible. P3 overall so happy for now. I’m excited for training this week to be ready for Sweden.”
