The first moto of the AMA Pro Motocross at Ironman was won by Chase Sexton. For a long time, it didn’t look like it would happen, as he crashed during the opening lap and had to come back from far behind. During the moto, Sexton also had to fend off attacks from Jett Lawrence, who had hit the starting gate and charged back from 33rd place.
Sexton took the win ahead of Hunter Lawrence, who passed Eli Tomac early on and then led until the final stages. Jett Lawrence finished third, followed by RJ Hampshire and Justin Cooper.
Jorge Prado crossed the line in sixth place, one minute behind the winner. European riders Harri Kullas and Benoit Paturel finished 13th and 14th, while Valentin Guillod claimed 15th place.
