Tosha Schareina wins fourth consecutive stage and takes the lead in Sertões 2025

Of the five stages completed in the 2025 Sertões Rally, four were won by rider Tosha Schareina on his Honda CRF 450 Rally motorcycle from the Monster Energy Honda HRC.

The Spaniard overcame the final part of the Marathon stage on Thursday (31/7), between the cities of Xique-Xique (BA) and Petrolina (PE), and achieved a 10 min advantage in the overall classification and Moto 1 category.

The fifth stage of the country’s biggest rally covered 470 kilometres, 296 of which were special stages, and ended the previous day’s Marathon. In this format, riders were not allowed external mechanical assistance, so saving their equipment was a key strategy. Current Dakar runner-up Schareina won his fourth consecutive victory in the race after overcoming the sands of the Xique-Xique region and rocky mountain sections.

This Friday , the destination will be the city of Delmiro Gouveia in Alagoas, with a 415 km route. The sixth stage of the programme includes 280 km of timed sections.

Yesterday’s stage was faster because they cut out the last 60 km, which were the most technical. Tosha was a little more relaxed when he found out that the second-placed rider had problems with his bike. He secured victory in a rally that is proving tougher than we thought.

Today he starts first in a stage with more navigation and sand, so it will be another tough day at the office.

Everything is fine. In these last two stages, we had to spare the mechanics of the bikes – and also the tyres. We were in the Marathon, where the mechanics couldn’t help us, and the truth is that it was very good. I tried to ride safely, without accidents, and also to conserve the tyres as much as possible, so I chose not to attack. The previous stage was very difficult, very slow and with lots of curves, while the fifth stage was very, very fast. I managed to win the special and achieve this ten-minute difference in the classification, so let’s go for the remaining three days.
