Hakon Osterhagen of AIT Racing claimed a top ten finish during the tenth round of the EMX250 Championship at the British circuit of Matterley Basin. Osterhagen rode to a strong eighth place in the first moto, while in the second race he struggled to find his rhythm and crossed the finish line in 17th place after a crash.
The Matterley Basin circuit was hard and dry on Saturday, making certain sections of the track very slippery. Osterhagen went out several times during timed practice to clock a fast lap, but was unable to piece together a perfect one, which left him with the 14th fastest time.
In the first moto, he got off to a decent start and came through the first lap in 15th. He immediately found a good rhythm and began making progress through the field. Midway through the race he moved into the top ten and continued his charge to finish in a strong eighth position.
In the second moto, he had a similar start and quickly moved into 13th place. He advanced to 12th, but struggled to find his flow and eventually had a small crash. This setback dropped him to 19th, and although it was difficult to regain momentum, he managed to pass two more riders and finished 17th.
With these results, Osterhagen placed 13th overall on the day and currently holds 21st in the championship standings.
Mixed Weekend for Vencislav Toshev in EMX125
Vencislav Toshev had a promising start to his weekend in the EMX125 class, securing ninth in timed practice. However, in the first moto he had a poor start and came through the first lap in 24th position. He began working his way forward but found it difficult to make passes. Despite this, Toshev still managed to climb up to 16th place by the end.
In the second moto, another bad start saw him buried deep in the pack again. This time, with more available lines on the track, he was able to push forward to 14th place before a crash set him back. Toshev recovered well and worked his way back up to finish 15th.
He ended the day 17th overall and now sits 15th in the championship standings after eleven rounds.
The EMX125 and EMX250 Championships will resume in three weeks’ time in Finland.
