Charli Cannon already holds the halo as Australia’s undisputed female motocross star, and now she’s preparing to take on America.
The 19-year-old Honda rider will compete in the six-round 2025 AMA Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX), which begins on May 23 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California and concludes on August 22 at the Budds Creek National – avoiding any clashes with the balance of the #ProMX2025 schedule.
The American tracks will certainly take some learning, but Charli’s opposition will be familiar after she was part of the Aussie team that defeated Team USA in the 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup.
USA didn’t leave anything in the tank in Wonthaggi, but ultimately it was the free-flowing brilliance of Cannon which was the difference between the two teams.
We may not see the best of Charli straight away in the WMX – she’s battling an injury after a recent practice crash – but she’s too well-drilled, talented and competitive to be battling for minor placings for too long.
Good luck, Charli!
