Another year, another British Championship opener under the belt… interesting fact, Jake has raced almost every single year at Hawkstone Park since 1999 – Billy Askew wasn’t even born at that point!
But enough of that, let’s talk racing. A first turn crash was quite the setback in the opening race, coming from dead last through the pack, toppling over again before charging forward once again. Salvaging 14th doesn’t actually reflect how well Jake rode in the first race, despite an undesirable finish, the speed was most definitely there.
Second race, not a great start but we were able to get around the first turn this time. Gradually picking off a number of riders, making his way into the top ten before finally finishing 5th, around 4 seconds behind Ollie Colmer in 4th!
Not a bad day all in, we look forward to getting back out in May for the next round at Canada Heights!
