Thibault Benistant of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing claimed victory in the French Championship in Pernes les Fontaines. Rick Elzinga participated in the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen and finished sixth in both motos.
Benistant took part in the event to maintain his race rhythm, as three Grand Prix races are scheduled in the upcoming weeks. After posting the fastest time in qualifying, he secured the overall win with a 1-2 finish in the motos.
Rick Elzinga started the day strongly in Harfsen. Due to the large turnout, the practice sessions were divided into two groups. Elzinga posted the fastest time in the first group, earning the privilege to choose his starting position behind the gate for both motos as first.
In the first moto, Elzinga had a good start and was in the leading group. In the early stages, he held strong in second place, but as he lost his rhythm, he had to slow down, which cost him several positions. Elzinga eventually finished in sixth place and aimed for a better result in the second moto.
The second moto began with a setback for Elzinga, as he collided with the gate and had to start from the back. Giving his all, he made his way forward throughout the race. The track was fast and treacherous, which made it difficult, but Elzinga did his best and finished in sixth place once again.
With two sixth-place finishes, Elzinga ended up fifth overall for the day. Next weekend, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing MX2 team will compete in the fourth round of the MX2 World Championship in Riola Sardo, Sardinia.
