Nicolas Vennekens of VNT Racing KTM experienced a challenging Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop. In the first moto, Vennekens suffered an unfortunate crash in the wave section, injuring his upper back. This injury continued to trouble him in the second moto, making it difficult for him to find the right rhythm.
In Lierop, riders were divided into two qualifying groups, with the top twenty from each group advancing to the motos. Nicolas was placed in the second group and managed to set the 15th fastest time, securing his spot in the main races.
In the first moto, Nicolas had a decent start and was able to begin the race inside the top twenty. He was making progress and closing in on the top fifteen when he crashed in the wave section, injuring his back. It took him a long time to get going again, and after attempting to continue, he ultimately decided to return to the paddock.
With renewed motivation, he lined up for the second moto. However, he quickly realized that his back injury was still affecting him. Determined to finish the race, he pushed through but could do no better than 27th place.
VNT Racing will now prepare for the long journey to Argentina. Next weekend, the team will compete in the first round of the World Championship at the circuit of Córdoba.
