American Michael Hicks will be adding more international flavour to the Arenacross World Tour this weekend when he lines up behind the gate for the second and final World Tour qualifying round at Manchester’s AO Arena on Saturday night.
Hicks has been putting together a solid season in the AMA Arenacross championship, holding down third in the AX Pro championship and currently leading the all electric X-Pro championship and that has pathed his way to come and race in the Arenacross World Tour.
Current AX World Tour series leader, Jorge Zaragoza, has had to pull out of this weekend’s action with a knee injury so his Stark Future Racing Team have drafted in Hicks as his replacement to go for the win and pick up valuable points in the team championship.
It’s the first time the 24-year-old from Fenton, Missouri, has visited the U.K and he’s looking forward to the challenge ahead. He’s not in the mix just to make up the numbers, he wants to win and after already beating Dean Wilson and Cedric Soubeyras in Dortmund
earlier this year he clearly has a good shot at doing so.
Arenacross co-host Jeff Perrett caught up with Michael on Wednesday after he’d been out testing the bike with the Stark Factory Racing Team at their base in Barcelona. Here’s what he had to say about the late call up to come and race in the Arenacross World Tour
