Motocross Rider Kay de Wolf Wins Prestigious Dutch Motorsport Award

World Champion in the MX2 motocross class, Kay de Wolf, has received the Hans de Beaufort Trophy. De Wolf was presented with this honorary award during the annual Champions’ Ceremony of the Royal Dutch Motorcycle Association (KNMV), by chairman Karel Bonsen and director Wim Mulder.

The Hans de Beaufort Trophy has been awarded since 1947 by the KNMV board in years when a Dutch motorsport athlete achieves a world-class performance and also serves as an ambassador for the sport off the track. Kay de Wolf has been regarded as a top talent since his youth, impressing in all the competitions he entered, and reached a major milestone with the MX2 World Championship title in 2024. He also helped TeamNL win bronze at the Motocross of Nations (the World Championship for national teams), thanks to his stellar performance.

Kay de Wolf: “This is truly a very special award to win. Jeffrey Herlings has received it four times; I’m getting it for the first time. I’m very honored. I’ve just bought a house, and this trophy will have a prominent place there.”

Ben Majoor Trophy

Motocross rider Gyan Doensen won the Dutch Masters of Motocross 125cc last season, finished second in the EMX125 (European Championship 125cc), and helped TeamNL secure the world title at the Youth Motocross World Championship in Heerde. During the ceremony, Gyan was awarded the Ben Majoor Trophy, the prize for Talent of the Year, presented by national coach Barry Forschelen.

Motorsport Heart and Sustainability Trophy

Jan Pol received the Motorsport Heart award, an honorary prize for exceptional contributions to motorsport. Pol (who recently turned 86) has been active in the motorsport world for 67 years in various roles: first as a motocross rider, then as a team leader, administrator, committee member, and still today with Ducati Club Nederland for their annual races at the TT Circuit.

The winner of the Sustainability Trophy was Ten Kate Racing / Motonext. Team manager Kervin Bos was presented with this award for their successful innovations in sustainability within motorsport, which are also being applied outside the motorsport world. For example, the World Supersport team from Nieuwleusen uses fairing parts made of bio-based plastic, and together with partner Putoline, they have developed a biodegradable motor oil that can also be filtered and reused.
