All three members of the DRT squad returned to the Swedish track of Uddevalla, joined again by a deluge of rain that has plagued the 2024 MXGP season. Solid qualifying and consistent riding were the name of the game for Jack Chambers, returning after a head injury in Loket. The American saw two mid-pack rides with decent speed and kept mistakes to a minimum to bring home a 12th and 13th for 12th overall.
Following a podium at the British last weekend, things were looking promising for Bobby Bruce in the MXGP class but a painful fall on his shoulder would see the Brit once again have to pull out from racing for the time being.
Back in the EMX250 class, youngster Billy Askew had two strong rides, despite 8 weeks out of racing and race fitness lost. A 14th and 13th would see Askew take 14th overall and currently sits 22nd in the standings having only competed in half the available races.
The team now has a heavy schedule of racing starting with Arnhem this weekend in the Netherlands.

“Super disappointing to be injured again after the podium last weekend at the British, I have to keep telling myself that only a few years ago I was runner up in the 125 championship so I know the speed and mentality is there, it’s just getting through these setbacks at the moment. ”
Billy Askew – EMX250
“I came out of the gate well today but I ran wide at turn one. I was happy with my riding to come back to thirteenth but I got a bit tired after 15 minutes; that wasn’t surprising as I’ve been away from racing for so long. The intensity out there is madness but that’s another race ticked off and hopefully by the end of the season I’ll be back to where I was before I got hurt. So now we go home, practice long motos and get back to race fitness to achieve that.”

“It was exciting to get all three riders back for the Swedish round, again we had huge rain on Friday which seems like a common theme for the 2024 season! The circuit held up well and all three riders did okay in qualifying.
Whilst 12th wasn’t the top 10 we were hoping for Jack, it was consistent and good for a first GP after knocking himself out at Loket. Billy had some solid rides and speed. The 8 weeks since he broke his thumb is a lot of race fitness to lose, so there wasn’t that level of intensity but we knew that and we were happy with the progress. After a great ride finishing 3rd at the British, Bobby had another fall hurting his shoulder and looks to miss the upcoming race in Arnhem.
We continue to fight through this tricky season, we now have a race every weekend until the end of the season so we look forward to continue improving every time we’re on the track”
