Five-times world champion Jeffrey Herlings – defeated at the last British championship round by UK rival Conrad Mewse – proved why he’s the world’s greatest on the sand by taking a convincing double win at Hawkstone Park.
The event was the first ever combined ACU British championship and Fastest 40 meeting, with points scored by all riders counting towards both championships. Mewse took a hard-fought second place in the MX1 class, after battling through the pack in the opener to second then chasing Herlings hard in race two. But the Dutchman was just too quick.
But it means Mewse clinched the 2024 Fastest 40 MX1 championship crown despite there still being one round left to run.
And he’s now nine points behind Herlings with two more ACU British championship rounds remaining, and the KTM man says he aims to race the rest of the series.
Young Brit Bobby Bruce put his new MXGP Dixon Kawasaki onto the podium in his first race on the 450 on home soil. With starring roles from Tristan Purdon, Josh Gilbert, Brad Todd, Martin Barr, Tom Grimshaw and lots more, our raw highlights edit shows the speed and gruelling track that takes no prisoners.
