A handful of riders who would typically contest every single round of the FIM Motocross World Championship have pulled out of the final event – the Grand Prix of China – at the last minute. Alessandro Lupino of the Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki outfit is the latest rider to do so, as he confirmed that he would not be present on social media earlier today.
"I will not be present at the last GP in China! A decision made with the team. We are preparing for the most beautiful event of the year, MXoN at Assen!"
In reality, there is nothing for Lupino to gain from travelling to the event. After missing five rounds with a scary injury – that was sustained at the Grand Prix of Russia – earlier in the year, he runs twentieth in the championship standings and will not be able to salvage a respectable position. A sixth in the first moto at the Grand Prix of Trentino was a season-best finish for him.
