The Red Bull Straight Rhythm has gone in a different direction in recent years, as it became a two-stroke race and therefore found a niche. There has been a lack of star power in recent years though, aside from Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey, which has arguably hurt the level of interest. There is absolutely no doubt that will not be the case this time around though, as both Ken Roczen and Travis Pastrana will join the line-up.
Roczen unveiled his CR250, which is currently being built by the HRC outfit, on social media recently and got tongues wagging. Roczen has not actually competed in the event since 2015 – believe it or not – and he finished finished second behind James Stewart that year. The fact that he was battling the recently-retired Stewart really emphasises just how long it has been since he hit the track.
Pastrana was last seen at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm in 2014, when he wowed fans aboard an RM500. The same fire-breathing two-stroke will be rolled out this year and, although there is a month left until the event, his preparation is well underway. The following clip was shared from his compound.
