Changed: MXGP of China

Youthstream alter the MXGP calendar

The deal of the day on 24MX.

Following a lot of speculation at the Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina, Youthstream announced that the fifth round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship has been changed. The Grand Prix of China, set to be run in Shanghai, was initially scheduled for May, but has now been moved to September. Horrific weather conditions are the reason for that.

A press release from Youthstream confirmed that an official request to change the date was logged by the Chinese National Federation, CAMF, and local organiser. There has been "an exceptional period of non-stop rain" over the last four months and that has made it impossible for work on the venue to begin. It was wise for all involved to move the event to the middle of September, which will make it the penultimate stop on the calendar. The finale will be run a week later in Hong Kong.

The fifth round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship will now be run in Mantova, Italy, on the second weekend in May. There is a gap of more than a month between that and the fourth round, which will also be run in Italy, on the first weekend in April. It remains to be seen if further changes will be made to ensure there is less of a hiatus.
