The deal of the day on 24MX.

Romain Febvre has now issued a statement, following that crash at Mantova. It seems as though no significant damage was sustained and that he will be ready to race at the Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina.

"2-DNF. First moto had a nice battle, ended up second and second race came first at the corner, run little bit wide and got squeezed [correction] and two riders rode on me and bike. Bike was destroyed and my ass too! Next stop LaCapelle-Marival."

It seemed as though Romain Febvre, of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing squad, was going to conclude his pre-season programme in a successful manner on Sunday. ‘461' was second in the first MX1 moto at the final Internazionali d'Italia round and therefore secured second in that championship, then in the final race of the day he had a clear lead as he charged into the first corner. The problem is he went in a little too fast and bounced off of a bank on the outside of the track and into the path of oncoming traffic.

The vicious fall was made worse by the fact that he was run over by many of his competitors, but he was eventually shown getting up under his own power. A statement from either Romain or Yamaha has not been distributed yet, so it remains to be seen if he sustained any injuries at all in the fall, but whilst the world waits for the official word the crash can be viewed below. An alternative angle is at the bottom of this page.
