Injury List: Minneapolis

Three riders return at round six.

Published

The deal of the day on 24MX.

In for Minneapolis

Christian Craig: Christian Craig was set to contest the 250SX West series with GEICO Honda but crashed in practice prior to the season opener and injured his thumb. The injury really took longer than expected to heal, but he will be out on track at the first 250SX East round in Minneapolis in an effort to salvage points.

Chase Sexton: Chase Sexton suffered a pre-season injury, which forced him out of the 250SX West series, but did not lose too much bike time. Sexton has recovered from that broken collarbone and is set to race in Minneapolis on Saturday. Sexton is still searching for his career-first victory in the 250SX category.

Geico Honda

Justin Brayton: Justin Brayton withdrew from the night show at the previous round of 2019 Monster Energy Supercross, San Diego, after suffering a thumb injury. Details are sparse currently, as there has not been a statement from the rider or team, but he is expected to take to the track in Minneapolis.

Out of Minneapolis

Hunter Lawrence: Hunter Lawrence had planned to make his 250SX debut in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this weekend, but a collarbone injury has forced him onto the sidelines for an unknown amount of time. It is not possible for the collarbone to be plated, so this is slightly more complicated than normal. GEICO Honda will not fill that seat.

Zach Osborne: Zach Osborne had surgery on his collarbone in the days prior to Anaheim 1 and has now resumed training on and off of the bike. Although he was initially expected to return in Minneapolis, his premier-class debut has been pushed back. Osborne is confident that he will be on track in Arlington, Texas, next weekend.

Husqvarna/Simon Cudby

Justin Hill: Justin Hill has had a limited amount of movement this week, because of the rib injury he suffered in San Diego, so will miss Minneapolis. It has not been confirmed when he is going to return to racing, but it appears to be a waiting game. Hill is currently sixteenth in the premier-class standings and has not entered the top ten yet this year.

Justin Starling: Justin Starling was hit by another rider in Oakland and fractured his wrist upon impact. The appropriate actions have been taken, but he is expected to return at the next 250SX West race in Atlanta. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium will play host to a 250SX East/West Showdown on the first weekend in March.

Jason Anderson: Jason Anderson hit rock bottom last week, as he crashed and sustained a broken arm that is going to keep him on the sidelines for the remainder of 2019 Monster Energy Supercross. Anderson really had an absolutely terrible January and now has an opportunity to hit the reset button. Dean Wilson filled his seat on Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing.

Dylan Merriam: Dylan Merriam had a rough start to the season, after a fall at Anaheim 1, and has now decided that he needs to rest in order to give his back injury an opportunity to heal. Merriam was vague in a social-media statement and did not specify what the problem with his back is exactly, but he is out for an unspecified amount of time.

Malcolm Stewart: Malcolm Stewart was arguably one of the most exciting prospects in the premier division at rounds one and two of Monster Energy Supercross, hence why it is particularly disappointing that he will miss the remainder of the season with a broken femur. The crash was sustained in the Glendale main event. MotoConcepts will not fill his seat.

Jeremy Martin: Jeremy Martin suffered a horrific blow at the fifth round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, Muddy Creek, eight months ago, as a crash resulted in a burst fracture of his L1 vertebrae. It was thought that he would be set to compete in Monster Energy Supercross at some point, but complications have forced him to withdraw from the entire 2019 season. Martin had successful surgery last month.

Jeremy Martin is now around twelve months away from his next race.

Geico Honda

Weston Peick: Weston Peick suffered horrific injuries in Paris a month and a half ago and is going to make a full recovery. Multiple nose, eye and other facial fractures were sustained. There were two breaks in his jaw and dual dislocation of the jaw bone from his skull also. Although he will make a full recovery, he will not compete at any Monster Energy Supercross rounds in 2019.

Benny Bloss: Benny Bloss crashed at Lake Elsinore on Christmas Eve and suffered a torn ACL, which is going to rule him out of the entire 2019 Monster Energy Supercross series. The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM squad filled his spot: Justin Bogle is slated to contest all seventeen rounds with them.

Dakota Tedder: Dakota Tedder had a ninth surgery on his wrist prior to Anaheim 1. “They had to break my ulna bone and shorten it to give me more room, because it was rubbing against my radius and my implant,” Tedder wrote on his social-media accounts. This tricky wrist injury is expected to keep him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

Deven Raper: Deven Raper, a popular privateer, broke his pelvis and nose whilst training at Milestone on November 20. The injuries are obviously significant and therefore, at the time of writing, there is no timeline on his return. Raper is unsure if he will even make it back before the end of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross season.
