The name Blake Savage is one that most readers are undoubtedly familiar with. Once a professional racer, he currently trains countless high-profile stars in Monster Energy Supercross. Cole Seely, Christian Craig, Chase Sexton and Ken Roczen (to name a few) benefit from his help. Savage now needs our help though, as he suffered devastating injuries whilst riding in Nevada two weeks ago.
"Blake Savage crashed while riding at a private supercross track in Mesquite, Nevada, sustaining a cervical spinal cord injury due to fractures to his C6 and C7 vertebra," a statement from Road 2 Recovery explained. "Savage was immediately transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, where his injuries were assessed and a surgical plan was quickly put into place. On Tuesday, January 15, Savage underwent successful surgery, where doctors completed a C5 to T1 posterior spinal instrumentation and fusion, which addressed the fractures and stabilised the spine. As a result of his injuries, Savage has no mobility from his mid-chest down to his lower extremities but does have upper body movement with some limitations."
There is a long road ahead of Blake Savage, of course, and there are certain expenses that come with that. This donation page on Road 2 Recovery is where you can help one of the most liked people in the pits. All of us here at MX Vice wish Blake the best with his recovery. Keep up-to-date with his progress via his social-media channels.
