Statement: Arminas Jasikonis

Arminas Jasikonis confirms status

The deal of the day on 24MX.

Although Arminas Jasikonis stated that he would be fine to contest the second Internazionali d'Italia round in the statement that was released last week, that did not turn out to be the case. Jasikonis did not take to the starting line at Ottobiano on Sunday. An explanation from Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing is below.

"Suffering with sore leg muscles following his crash at the Internazionali d’ Italia MX season opener, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Arminas Jasikonis opted to sit out the second round of the series and instead focus on his training ahead of the MXGP World Championship."

It remains to be seen if Arminas Jasikonis will contest the third round at Mantova this weekend.

There was concern when Arminas Jasikonis hit the ground in the first turn of the Superfinal at the opening round of the Internazionali d'Italia series, as he was then hit by some of his competitors. Although he rejoined the race, much to the delight of the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team, he later withdrew. '27' has now confirmed that everything is fine though.

"It feels good to be behind the starting gate again," Jasikonis said in a team statement. "This weekend in Sardinia I had a good feeling on the bike and I'm happy I showed the speed is there. In the MX1 moto I didn't manage to get a good start but kept my head down to finish fifth. I struggled a bit with arm pump in the closing part of the race but I tried not to let that slow me down. Going into the Supercampione final I felt ready to show my speed again. Unfortunately, I went down in the first corner and that made it all harder for me. I got up and did a few more laps but I felt some pain in my right leg and had to pull out of the race. I'll give my body some time to heal and prepare for round two of the series next weekend in Ottobiano."

Although a DNF hurt his ranking in the Superfinal, Arminas Jasikonis currently sits fifth in the MX1 standings. Jasikonis is the only FC 450 rider beneath the awning currently; Pauls Jonass has only just started riding again after having his torn ACL repaired in September.
