Jorge Zaragoza dominates the first round of SX Champs

The SX Champs kicked off in style in Argentina, where Jorge Zaragoza delivered a standout performance that solidified his place as a top contender for the championship. Zaragoza showcased unmatched skill and determination, claiming a stunning victory in the first of three rounds. With 53 points to his name, he heads into Round 2 – Wednesday 22nd.

The day began under sunny skies, with a vibrant crowd filling the stands. Zaragoza’s race day consisted of two practice runs, a heat, a final, and the highly anticipated superfinal. In both the heat and final, he pulled the holeshot and maintained a commanding lead throughout.

The superfinal, however, proved to be a tougher battle. Starting in second, Zaragoza worked hard to overtake the leader, seizing the top spot after nearly a full lap. A fierce fight ensued as Zaragoza defended his lead through the corners. Two laps from the finish, Dunka briefly overtook him, but Jorge reclaimed first place in the very next turn with a bold move, sealing the victory.

Zaragoza’s performance wasn’t just a personal triumph

His victory has reignited debates within the racing community about the capabilities of the Stark VARG and it´s outstanding performance despite being locked in SX1 Mode at 60hp. Initially skeptical, the Argentinian fans were won over by the VARG’s performance. What began as curiosity and laughter ended with cheers and applause as Zaragoza took the top spot. This victory wasn’t just about speed—it was a statement about the future of motocross, proving that electric is not a compromise, and can compete at the highest level, on a level playing field.
