Following such a successful start to the season, especially at a domestic level, Jake Nicholls was dealt a crushing blow at the Grand Prix of Trentino today. Nicholls had a turbulent start to the second MXGP encounter, as he got caught up with another rider and then had to push forward from the back. Whilst doing that, however, he dislocated his hip "without crashing" according to a post on his social media accounts.
It remains to be seen just how severe the injury is and whether any further damage was sustained, but Nicholls has released more information. "Unaware what's happening from here but I'm not allowed to sit up for three weeks so it's not great," he wrote.
Nicholls currently sits twenty-second in the MXGP class and had a season-best finish of eleventh at the Grand Prix of Indonesia. He, of course, leads the MX1 class in the Maxxis British Championship also. The next round of that series is scheduled to take place on April 30th.
