Jeffrey Herlings wins British Championship in Lyng

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory team has won the first round of the British Championship in Lyng.

Herlings took part in the race in Lyng to keep the race pace high and to prepare himself for the next three races of the MXGP world championship. However, his injured ribs still bothered him during the day.

The weather conditions were not positive in Lyng because it rained a lot. This made the circuit muddy and Herlings took his time during training to build up his speed. He ended up third fastest, which was enough for a good starting position in both heats.

In the first heat Herlings had a consistent race. In the treacherous conditions he rode in second place for the entire race and increased the pressure in the closing stages to overtake the race leader. Herlings tried everything but couldn’t find a place to take over the lead and came home in second.

In the second moto Jeffrey immediately took the lead in the race. He set a fast pace and started walking away from the rest of the field. Herlings won the heat with a lead of 47 seconds and thus secured the overall victory.

This weekend the fifth round of the MXGP world championship is scheduled for Herlings in Agueda, Portugal.
